Description
Buddha Shakyamuni Thangka, Himalayan Buddhist Painting
Buddha Shakyamuni appeared in this world to purify all beings by having them open the treasure of Buddha Wisdom, which they are unaware of possessing within themselves. His followers are known as Buddhists. The tradition of Buddhism is to mean an enlightened being, one who has awakened from the sleep of ignorance and achieved freedom from suffering.
In this thangka, Buddha's right-hand forms a mudra, or hand gesture, which signifies his pacification of fear and, in certain contexts, that he is in the midst of teaching. His left hand is holding a begging bowl full of nectars.
This thangka is done following Buddhist text and iconography detail to make sure it presents all the right attributes for your meditation practice.
May the blessings of Buddha be there for you!
