Chenrezig, or Avalokiteshvara, is the heavenly bodhisattva of endless compassion and protector of all living beings. In Mahayana Buddhism, he is regarded as the compassionate core of all Buddhas, with his mantra, "Om Mani Padme Hum," echoing across the Himalayas as a plea for mercy and spiritual awakening. Believed to take many forms to ease suffering, Chenrezig is closely linked to Amitabha Buddha, his spiritual father, who is depicted above him in this thangka also as a symbol of enlightened wisdom and aspiration for the Pure Land.

This remarkable thangka depicts Chenrezig with four arms—two joined together in prayer at his heart, holding a wish-fulfilling jewel; the other two have a lotus flower and mala beads, representing purity and ongoing compassion. He sits peacefully on a multi-colored lotus throne, surrounded by a vibrant divine landscape. Above, Amitabha Buddha sits on a lotus cloud, emitting calm and guiding wisdom. Below, Nagkanya, the serpent goddess of protection and fertility, offers a vase of auspicious nectar. At the same time, various sentient beings are depicted with tenderness, reflecting the limitless compassion Chenrezig offers to all realms. Every divine figure, landscape detail, and ritual element is intricately painted in fine lines and luminous tones, creating a spiritual visual journey that uplifts peace and devotion.

Consecration of Thangka
At the Enlightenment Thangka, the consecration procedure entails a precisely planned set of rituals and ceremonies. As requested for consecration/ blessing, we take the thangka to respective Monasteries.
