Traditionally-Made Himalayan Buddha Decorative Statue
A Nepali craftsman handcrafted this Buddha Decorative Statue. Shakyamuni Buddha, a tika (Dot) on the forehead with only one face, established the Buddhist tradition. His long, pierced earlobes date back to his days as a prince. In the earth witness mudra, the right arm is raised over the knee with the fingers planted firmly on the floor. The Alms bowl is held in the meditation mudra with the left hand, palm facing up, on the lap. Heavily patterned and embedded with semi-precious gemstones monk's robe covers the shoulders, draping around the body and down the legs. In traditional Buddhist monk fashion, the right arm is exposed.

Material: 24K Gold Gilded, Oxidized Copper Body, Acrylic Paintings
Shakyamuni Buddha founded the Buddhist tradition. In the sixth century B.C.E., he lived and taught in India during a period of rising religious and philosophical thinking from Greece to China. Siddhartha Gautama was born as the crown prince of the mighty Shakya Kingdom and was nurtured to be a king in line with his royal father's aspirations. However, when he was around 29 years old, he learned about people's tremendous pain. To uncover the reasons for this anguish and the methods to alleviate it, he abandoned his palace life and gave up his magnificent robes and gold.
