8 Medicine Buddhas Thangka Painting, Bhaisajyaguru

Among the 8 Medicine buddhas thangka painting, the central figure, Bhaisajyaguru, is also known as Vaiduryaprabharaja, or "King of Vaidurya Light." He is also known as Shakyamuni Buddha's aspect, to unveil the Four Tibetan Medical Tantras. He's shown in the lotus position, his body the color of lapis lazuli, and he's dressed in Buddhist monk robes. He holds a lapis-colored jar of medical nectar in his left hand and the stem of an aruna fruit in his right hand, which rests on his knee. The chanting of praises to the Eight Medicine Buddhas helps in healing physical ailments, the alleviation of mental and emotional illnesses, and the removal of barriers to health, happiness, longevity, and harmony.

The Medicine of the Eight personifies the ultimate source of pleasure for all beings. Medicine Bhaisajya Tathagata, or Healing Buddha, is another name for Buddha.

He canheal both birth and death illnesses. His skin is the color of lapislazuli. Before
achieving Buddhahood, he took 12 major vows, according to the Bhaisajyaguru
Buddha Sutra. They are to rid all living creatures of illness and make them feel at ease and happy toachieve Buddhahood and free beings from catastrophes and tragedies.
