Description

24K Gold Karma Gadri Style Mahakala Bernagchen Thangka

This exuberant Mahakala Bernagchen Thangka is done with acrylic color and genuine 24K Gold on cotton canvas. Revered as the protective deity in Tibetan Buddhism, the deity is depicted with a fierce appearance wielding a curved knife with a Vajra handle representing his power to conquer obstacles and to cut through any obstacle. The deity wears a five-skulled crown representing his mastery over the five poisons: ignorance, attachment, anger, jealousy, and pride regally seated atop a sun disc Lotus seat.

This thangka is a fine testament of Buddhist artistry that would be perfect for any devotee. Thangkas are an essential component of Buddhist rituals, and this is perfect for rituals, especially for rituals to overcome obstacles and negativity and bring peace and harmony.

Note: Mahakala Bernagchen Thangka is an original painting from Enlightenment Studio located at Boudha Stupa.

Bernagchen is the personal guardian of the Karmapas, the leaders of the Karma Kagyu lineage, in this form of Mahakala. He has two arms, and his name means 'The Black Cloak.' The practice was established into the Karma Kagyu tradition by the 2nd Karmapa, Karma Pakshi (1206-1283 CE). The training comes from the Nyingma lineage's Revealed Treasure or Terma tradition. Mahakala Bernagchen is also considered one of the Karma Kagyu lineage's unique guardians.
