About Our Thangka

The 1000-Armed Avalokiteshvara Thangka is a powerful artwork representing Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Infinite Compassion, also known as Chenrezig in Tibetan Buddhism. The artwork features Avalokiteshvara's thousand arms, each with an eye in the palm, symbolizing his omniscient ability to see suffering and infinite capacity to help. A thousand hands represent his boundless compassion, reaching out in all directions to offer aid and solace. The thangka arranges its eleven heads in a tiered formation, each representing different levels of compassion and wisdom. The topmost head is depicted as Amitabha Buddha, Avalokiteshvara's spiritual father, symbolizing the ultimate source of boundless light and compassion. The serene expression on Avalokiteshvara's face invites the viewer to connect with their inner compassion. 

Surrounding Avalokiteshvara are five significant figures: White Tara, Amitabha Buddha, Green Tara, Manjushri, and Vajrapani, each adding their unique attributes to the thangka. White Tara, with her seven eyes, is a symbol of pure, transcendent wisdom and long life. Amitabha Buddha, seated in meditation, embodies infinite light and life, offering a path to enlightenment through his pure land.
