Tibetan Buddhism admires White Tara, also known as Sita Tara, as a symbol of compassion, wisdom, and longevity. Traditionally shown seated on a lotus, she demonstrates the purity and tranquillity achieved through compassion. White Tara is often associated with providing healing, protection, and granting long life. At the same time, her multiple-eye depictions on her palms, feet, and forehead represent her vigilance and ability to see all beings suffering so she can assist them in attaining liberation from that suffering. When invoked for practitioners’ longevity and well-being, she is thought to provide both spiritual and physical healing through her mantras. On the lower left, Amitayus is shown in a red-colored form, representing the wisdom aspect of boundless life force. He is holding the long-life vase (kalasha), which is filled with the nectar of immortality and represents the cultivation of spiritual longevity, the restoration of vitality, and the purifying of unfavorable circumstances. Ushnisha Vijaya (Namgyalma), a formidable three-faced longevity deity connected to cleansing and defense against life's challenges, is shown on the lower right. Her presence signifies the eradication of karmic obstacles, conquering perils, and achieving a long and meaningful life. Her numerous arms bear sacred utensils that indicate enlightened activity.
