Description
Manjushree With Purple Flower Brocade
Manjushri is Smooth, Glorious, and Melodious, and he encompasses all the unfathomable wisdom of the Buddhas. His skin is a brilliant orange color, and in his right hand he holds a flaming sword of wisdom, while on his left he holds a lotus flower stem on which there rested a book of the Perfection of Wisdom sutras. His two-edged sword slashes through misconceptions, clearly defining the difference between how things appear to be independent and how they actually are interconnected. The Kathmandu Valley in Nepal was drained by Manjushri, who also spread the Buddha's teachings there while making it suitable for human settlement.
