Presenting our excellent Kagyu Guru Marpa Gold-Gilded Statue, we are happy to honor Marpa Lotsawa, one of the most esteemed gurus in Tibet and a key figure in the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. This statue, which was expertly constructed by the artisans of Patan, Nepal, depicts Marpa's crucial role in the transfer of Buddhist teachings from India to Tibet. It is 19.5 cm (7.7 inches) tall and rests on an 18 cm (7.1 inch) base.
The statue is carefully handcrafted with a copper body and embellished with 24K gold gilding. Its deep etchings of Marpa's dignified robes and wise expression are highlighted by an antique finish. His features are given more depth by the acrylic painting, which also perfectly captures the essence of the great teacher and translator who introduced many Vajrayana scriptures to Tibet. Vajrayana Buddhism was introduced to Tibet by the influential Tibetan Buddhist teacher and translator Marpa Lotsawa (1012–1097). He was trained by the Indian Mahasiddha Naropa and translated many significant Tibetan tantric scriptures from Sanskrit. Marpa was the founder of the Kagyu lineage and mentored numerous students, among them the well-known yogi Milarepa. His contributions guaranteed the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism would be preserved and passed on, and they had a tremendous impact on how the religion developed.
