Kadampa Master With Others, Canvas Print
Original Size of Thangka (6.5 x 9 ft )
The Kadampa tradition was founded by the Indian Buddhist master Atisha where all the words uttered by Buddha are taken as practical instructions. The Kadampa Masters follows the tradition of the ‘graded path.' It is the approach of the ‘three levels of spiritual capacity’ set out by Atisha in his Lamp for the Path of Awakening.
They relied upon the 'seven divine dharmas,' as in the four deities of Shakyamuni, Avalokiteshvara, Tara and Achala, and three pitakas. The Kadampa Master is someone who goes by this tradition and takes on after Atisha’s footsteps. Atisha lies in the center of the usual iconography and he is surrounded by his disciples, learned people who follow the Kadampa tradition. They are the Kadampa Masters. After Atisha, the Kadampa lineage was passed down through a succession of great Kadampa Teachers including Dromtönpa, Geshe Potowa, Geshe Sharawa, and Geshe Chekhawa.
We have painted carefully and with utmost devotion. This thangka will be great help and inspiration for any Sakyapa practitioner.
This inspiring Buddhist art would be a great gift for a practitioner like you!
