Introduction to Shakyamuni Buddha:

Shakyamuni Buddha Nursing Wounded Swan

An important event in the life of Shakyamuni Buddha was his nursing for the wounded swan. Following the myth, Siddhartha came upon an injured swan while hunting while still a prince. He felt sympathy and tenderness for the bird when he saw it suffering and took it into his arms. He gently treated the swan's wounds and lessened its pain as he brought it back to health.

This occurrence is notable because it is one of the earliest times that Siddhartha has shown empathy and compassion for another living being. It is also viewed as foreshadowing his ultimate decision to give up his royal existence and go on a journey of enlightenment. He showed love and the capability to look beyond his ego and goals by tending to the injured swan; these qualities would later be central to his teachings.

In Buddhism, the swan symbolizes transcendence and purity since it represents the path to enlightenment. Siddhartha was metaphorically restoring the swan's health and preparing himself for the journey he would later take. How do you take care of your statues?

• Place them at room temperature, avoiding direct sunlight.
• Make sure that the area where your statue is placed is entirely free of moisture and dust.
• Place it at the highest place on your altar after being consecrated by Lama/monks. The best practice is to keep them covered inside a
glass cabinet.
• Do not use your bare hands or any objects with a rough surface to wipe the face. Directly touching with the bare hand objects can
smudge the face, leaving scratches.
