Introduction to Karuwa
Karuwa is a Nepali term for a traditional brass or copper water container or jug. It is a container with a narrow neck and a wider base that is commonly used to transport water, milk, or other liquids. The Karuwa has cultural and religious significance in Nepali culture and is frequently used in ceremonies and festivals. During the Bisket Jatra festival in Bhaktapur, Nepal, for example, Karuwas filled with water are carried in a procession to a temple, where they are used to pour water over the deity. Similarly, during the Dashain festival, Karuwas are used to collect holy water from rivers and springs to offer to the goddess Durga.
