About Our Product
This Handcrafted Damaru for Ritual Ceremonies measures 9.5 cm in height and 11.5 cm in width, with a weight of 0.44 kg. Crafted from silver and yak skin, it is decorated with gemstone, coral, and turquoise details. The hourglass shaped body is covered with raised floral patterns and beaded borders, while a central band is set with colorful stones. The dark yak skin drumheads form the upper and lower striking surfaces, and the attached cords end in small woven beaters used to produce sound during ritual practice.
This Damaru features detailed silver work across both sides, including scrolling floral motifs, raised borders, and a decorated central section. Coral, turquoise, and gemstone settings add color around the middle of the drum, while the side handle is also engraved with ornamental patterns. The two attached cords move freely when the drum is turned, allowing the beaters to strike the yak skin surfaces and create the rhythmic sound traditionally associated with this ritual instrument.
This sacred Damaru is used in Tibetan Buddhist ritual ceremonies, prayer, meditation, and Vajrayana practice. Its sound is traditionally connected with ritual rhythm, spiritual focus, and the support of mantra recitation and ceremonial practice. The combination of silver craftsmanship, yak skin, coral, turquoise, gemstones, and detailed ornamentation makes this piece suitable for an altar, ritual collection, meditation space, or personal Buddhist practice.
A Chöd drum, also known as a damaru, is a unique and symbolic instrument integral to the Chöd spiritual practice in Tibetan Buddhism. This small, double-sided hand drum features a narrow waist connecting its two drumheads, often shaped like an hourglass, which represents the union of wisdom and compassion. Used by Chöd practitioners during ritualistic ceremonies, the drum's rhythmic beating is believed to connect with sacred energies, facilitating meditation and the realization of emptiness. The Chöd drum's ritualistic role highlights its spiritual significance, transcending mere music to become a meditative and transformative tool within the Buddhist tradition.
