Mandala is a tool for meditation or contemplative object used to illustrate various aspects of Buddha’s teachings, meditative instruction, or the cosmological representation of the pure microcosm (pure mandala) of the deity.
Introduction To Kalachakra Mandala :
The Mandala represents a symbolic Geometric Diagram in Tantric Buddhism, which visualizes the metaphysical interconnection between microcosm and the universe. Mandalas embodies a vast store of Spiritual Energy.
Kalachakra mandala is the “Palace of Purity”with more than seven hundred deities residing inside ,represented by various signs and symbols. The entrances of the palace nearest to the centre are said to be cittacakra(mind-wheels),and the middle entrances are said to be vakcakra(voice-wheels).Outside the gates of vakcakra are figures of various animals,including a corpse,and marigold-like lotus flower.They include a deer,buffalo,ram peacock,elephant,mongoose ,bull,makara,mouse,and the Garuda.They are the vehicles of various divinities of the Hindu pantheon.

How does mold damage a Thangka ?
A humid room without air circulation is the perfect environment for mold growth. If a thangka in such a room becomes damp or wet, mold will grow on it. This growth can badly damage the cloth, the pigment, and the binder. Molds form a fuzzy coating on the thangka.
