Introduction To Dorje Sempa Yabyum :
In Tibetan Buddhism Vajrasatva is associated with the sambhogakāya and purification practice. Vajrasattva with consort is portrayed in this thangka. He is a purification-focused meditational Bodhisattva deity who is worshipped by Vajrayana Buddhists of all sects. According to the scriptures, repenting to Vajrasattva and singing his hundred-syllable mantra can cleanse one of all sins and obscurations. One of the four preparators of ngondro, a preparatory but necessary practice in Vajrayana Buddhism, is the Vajrasattva cleansing ceremony.

Why should thangka be kept away from mold?
A humid room without air circulation is the perfect environment for mold growth. If a thangka in such a room becomes damp or wet, mold will grow on it. This growth can badly damage the cloth, the pigment, and the binder. Molds form a fuzzy coating on the thangka.
