Buddha Shakyamuni with Manjushri and Maitreya Buddha Thangka
A rare thangka featuring Buddha Shakyamuni accompanied by Bodhisattva Manjushri and Maitreya Buddha presents a deeply symbolic and spiritually rich composition.
Buddha Shakyamuni, the central figure, is seated on a lion throne, symbolizing his fearless and regal presence. His aura, or nimbus, is depicted as a radiant halo filled with precious jewels and stones, symbolizing the enlightenment and purity of his being.
Bodhisattva Manjushri, the embodiment of wisdom, is typically depicted wielding a sword that cuts through ignorance and a scripture that represents the teachings of the Buddha. His presence signifies the importance of wisdom on the path to enlightenment.
Maitreya Buddha, the future Buddha, is portrayed as a bodhisattva awaiting his time to manifest enlightenment. His presence in the thangka symbolizes hope and the continuity of the Buddha's teachings across time.
