Hand-Carved, Gold, Silver, Copper & Brass Offering Bowls (Mendel): Perfect for Home Altars, Monasteries & Daily Practice

The Buddhist Offering Bowl (Mendel or Ting in Tibetan) is one of the most essential and frequently used objects in Vajrayana Buddhist practice. Traditionally arranged in a row of seven, these small bowls are filled with water each morning to represent the seven traditional offerings made to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas: drinking water, washing water, flowers, incense, light, perfumed water, and food, with music sometimes added as an eighth offering.

In Buddhist practice, offering bowls represent generosity, purity, and the accumulation of merit. Traditionally filled with water, flowers, grains, or other sacred items, these bowls are placed on altars as a daily act of devotion to the Three Jewels: the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha.

Our Collection Highlights

Each Offering Bowl set in our collection is purely handmade in Nepal by master artisans, incorporating traditional design, precise proportions, and durable craftsmanship. We offer a wide variety of offering bowls from gold-plated elegance to durable copper and brass available in various sizes, materials, and set configurations; they are suitable for both personal home altars and monastic shrine halls.

  • Gold-Plated Offering Bowl Sets: Premium finish for principal altars and special offerings, radiating brightness befitting the Three Jewels.
  • Silver Offering Bowl Sets: Elegant and traditionally associated with purity, ideal for daily water offerings.
  • Copper Offering Bowl Sets: Classic and time-honoured, the most widely used material across Himalayan monasteries and homes.
  • Brass Offering Bowl Sets: Strong, durable, and richly toned, perfect for both daily practice and long-term shrine use.
  • Engraved & Plain Bowl Sets: Choose between beautifully engraved designs featuring auspicious symbols or smooth, unadorned bowls for a minimalist altar aesthetic.

Why Choose Our Offering Bowls?

  • Sets of Seven: Traditionally configured to match the classical seven water offerings of Tibetan Buddhist practice.
  • Multiple Sizes & Price Ranges: From compact personal altar sets to large monastery-grade bowls for shrine halls.

  • Purely Hand-Hammered & Hand-Polished: Each bowl is individually shaped and finished by skilled Nepali artisans.

  • Perfect for Daily Practice: Establishes and supports the foundational daily offering ritual central to Tibetan Buddhist devotion.

  • Comes with Offering Tray or a pot (where applicable): Some sets include a co-ordinated tray for clean and orderly altar arrangement.

  • Worldwide Shipping: Secure, insured delivery to your doorstep.
