The meditative gesture signifies concentration and spiritual awareness, while the lotus base symbolizes purity and transcendence. The antique finish highlights the depth of the carving, giving the statue a calm and grounded presence that aligns with traditional Buddhist symbolism.

Introduction of Amitabha Buddha
In Mahayana Buddhism's Pure Land sects, Amitabha is sometimes referred to as Amitayus, the great savior Buddha. Amitabha is worshipped as one of the five'self-born' Dhyani Buddhas, who have been eternally present. However, he was never as widely recognized as a savior figure in Tibet and Nepal as he was in East Asia. Amitabha bestows longevity, earning him the name Amitayus, or 'Infinite Life.' In China and Japan, these two names are often used interchangeably, but in Tibet, they are distinct, and Amitayus is worshipped in specific rites to achieve long life.
