Tibetan Altar Offerings Serkyem Set
About Our Ritual Item
In Tibetan Buddhist ceremonies, the exquisitely created Serkyem Set for Altar Offerings, made of oxidized copper with silver plating, is a representation of reverence and dedication. Two ritual vessels stand in for the giving of water and wine in its design, which symbolizes the holy union of wisdom and compassion. Every component of the set, from the dexterous construction to the symbolic meaning of the materials chosen, adds to its spiritual intensity and effectiveness in encouraging a closer relationship with the divine.
The Serkyem Set is a tool used in ancient Tibetan Buddhist ceremonies that has great spiritual significance. It allows practitioners to demonstrate their devotion and develop virtue. In addition to its ceremonial purpose, it acts as a center for introspection and meditation, encouraging practitioners to live lives that are generous, pure, and compassionate. The Serkyem Set is a material manifestation of spiritual practice that unites the sacred and the profane, providing a means of achieving enlightenment and inner transformation.
Introduction to Serkyem
The Serkyem, also known as Golden Drink, is part of the Dharma Protector's practice. In Tibetan, Ser means "golden," and Kyem means "beverage."
It is offered by pouring the beverage into a cup-like wine glass and placed into a lower bowl. The beverage is poured into the cup during the offering, where the liquid overflows into the lower bowl. The symbol of the overflowing liquid is highly auspicious because it represents an abundant flow of merits.
