Hand-Painted Buddhist Thangka of Bodhisattva Chenrezig | Symbol of Universal Love
Buddhist Thangka of Bodhisattva Chenrezig surrounds a sacred area with the calm presence of healing, spiritual protection, and compassion. This thangka is hand-painted utilizing traditional Himalayan techniques on handmade cotton canvas by talented artists based in the Kathmandu Valley. Genuine 24K gold lends a bright sacred glow, and acrylic colors create depth to the lotus seat, ornaments, surrounding details, and heavenly shape. Each brushstroke embodies the continuing legacy of Buddhist art, devotion, and patience.
Chenrezig, also known as Avalokiteshvara (Sanskrit), Kuan Yin (Chinese), and Guanyin (Japanese), is regarded as the embodiment of compassion, who is ever present in spirit, who listens to the suffering of others and responds. Looking very calm and serene, Chenrezig embodies constant, patient, and unconditioned kindness. His lotus flower is a symbol of purity and the capacity to emerge from troubles gracefully. Amitabha is depicted above Chenrezig in numerous Tibetan Buddhist thangkas, signifying the spiritual origin of his benevolent strength and blessings. Chenrezig is surrounded by various manifestations of Tara, the enlightened female Bodhisattva of rapid action, healing, and protection. Because Tara is thought to have emerged from Chenrezig's compassionate tears, they share a close relationship. Tara was born out of Chenrezig's tears upon witnessing the suffering of beings, and she made a swift and brave promise to aid all beings.
