The thangka depicts Buddha in a vajra posture, symbolizing spiritual purity and enlightenment. His right hand touches the earth in the Bhumisparsha Mudra, a gesture that commemorates the moment he called the earth goddess to witness his awakening beneath the Bodhi tree.
