The statue represents Vajrasattva, the Bodhisattva of Purification in Tibetan Buddhism. Vajrasattva is often depicted seated in a meditative posture, symbolizing the deep inner peace and purity that come from spiritual practice. He holds a vajra (thunderbolt) in his right hand, representing the power to destroy ignorance and obstacles, and a bell in his left hand, signifying wisdom and the union of method and wisdom. The vajra is a key symbol in Vajrayana Buddhism, symbolizing indestructibility and spiritual power, while the bell signifies wisdom that is used in conjunction with compassion. Introduction of Vajrasattva

Vajrasattva is typically regarded as the second patriarch in the Shingon Buddhist lineage, the first being Vairocana Buddha. According to Kukai's writings in Record of the Dharma Transmission, Nagarjuna encountered Vajrasatva in an iron tower in southern India, based on Amoghavajra's testimony. As recounted in the Mahavairocana Sutra, Vajrasatva inducted Nagarjuna into the abhiseka ceremony and entrusted him with the esoteric teachings he had gained from Vairocana Buddha. Kukai doesn't go into detail on Vajrasatva or his beginnings.
