In traditional iconography, he is seen in white color, Wrathful and fierce. With the right face red and the left face blue.
In Tibetan Buddhism, Pehar Gyalpo is revered as a strong protector god who guards holy writings and monasteries. He is one of the ferocious Dharma defenders, representing knowledge, protection, and wrathful compassion. Pehar Gyalpo's mission is to shield spiritual practitioners from impediments on their way to enlightenment, ensuring that the Dharma thrives and the Buddha's teachings are perpetuated.
Introduction to Pehar Gyalpo:
Gyalpo Nechung refers to Pehar Gyalpo, a powerful protector deity in Tibetan Buddhism, leader of the five spirit kings (Gyalpos), and the central figure associated with the famous Nechung Monastery and the Nechung Oracle, the official State Oracle of Tibet, who takes trance of his emanation, Dorje Dragden, to deliver prophecies.
How Do You Take Care of Your Statues?
- Place them at room temperature, avoiding direct sunlight.
- Make sure that the area where your statue is placed is entirely free of moisture and dust.
- Place it at the highest place on your altar after being consecrated by the Lama/monks. The best practice is to keep them covered inside a glass cabinet.
- Do not use your bare hands or any objects with a rough surface to wipe the face.
- Directly touching objects with the bare hand can smudge the face, leaving scratches.
Consecration Service Available

During consecration, these sacred items are placed inside and blessed through traditional rituals performed by the ordained monks. There is a fee for this service, offered as a respectful contribution to the monastery.
