Thangka of Traditional Gautam Buddha | The Historical Buddha and Founder of Buddhism

The Traditional Gautam Buddha Thangka radiates serenity and spiritual harmony—a hand-painted masterpiece on cotton canvas, rendered in natural colors and 24K gold. Created with Himalayan artistry, its mineral-derived hues reflect purity and longevity. Golden highlights emphasize Buddha's divine presence in the Karma Gadri style, known for graceful lines and balance. It invites calmness, making it ideal for meditation or sacred decor.

Gautam Buddha, also called Siddhartha Gautama or Shakyamuni Buddha, is honored as the founder of Buddhism and a symbol of awakening. Born a prince in Lumbini, Nepal, he left his royal life to pursue truth, compassion, and liberation from suffering. After extensive meditation and ascetic practices, he achieved enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya. His teachings, known as the Dharma, outline the path to inner peace, mindfulness, and escaping the cycle of rebirth. The teachings of the Buddha have motivated many for centuries, leading beings toward self-awareness and enlightenment through compassion and wisdom.

In this thangka, he is portrayed seated in serene meditation upon a blooming lotus throne, a symbol of purity and enlightenment. His right hand touches the earth in the Bhumisparsha Mudra—the “earth-witness gesture”—signifying the moment of his enlightenment. His left hand rests in his lap, holding a begging bowl that represents simplicity and the renunciation of material desires. The delicate use of 24K gold accentuates the folds of his robe and the gentle aura surrounding his enlightened form. The backdrop, softly painted with mountain landscapes and lotus motifs, adds a sense of stillness and sacred space, evoking tranquility and devotion.

This Gautam Buddha Thangka is more than art—it’s a spiritual gateway to wisdom and peace. Bring it into your home or meditation space to awaken mindfulness, inspire balance, and fill your surroundings with Buddha’s compassionate energy and calm.
