Vajrasattva Dorje Sempa
Introduction To The Thangka :
Vajrasatva is related with sambhogakaya and cleansing practice in Tibetan Buddhism.
Vajrasatva is typically regarded as the second patriarch in the Shingon Buddhist lineage, the first being Vairocana Buddha. According to Kukai's writings in the Record of the Dharma Transmission, Nagarjuna met Vajrasatva in an iron tower in southern India, based on Amoghavajra's account. As recounted in the Mahavairocana Sutra, Vajrasatva initiated Nagarjuna into the abhiseka ceremony and entrusted him with the esoteric teachings he had gained from Vairocana Buddha. Kukai does not go into greater detail on Vajrasatva or his roots.
His left hand is holding a bell that rests on his hip as a gesture of his compassion.The hundred-syllable mantra linked with him is employed for mental cleansing in all schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
How to take care of your thangka?
-Hang your thangka in a traditional silk brocade
-Regular Inspection of your thangka; examine the borders and all attachments.
-Keep thangkas covered when they are on display but not in use.
-Rotate thangkas between display and storage on a regular basis, two to four times a year, to reduce the amount of exposure to light. Keep away from sunlight and humidity.
-Do not apply liquids or other materials to the surface of the thangka.
