About Our Statue:
This Kshitigarbha Statue, one of the Eight Great Bodhisattvas, stands at 11.2”/28.5cm in height and 6.3”/16cm at the base, weighing 1.30 kg. Crafted from oxidized copper with 24K gold gilding, detailed gold and acrylic paintings, and adorned with gemstones, this statue exemplifies skilled Nepali craftsmanship. Perfect for altars and meditation spaces, it embodies the boundless wisdom and vast compassion of Kshitigarbha, guiding practitioners on the path to enlightenment.
This Kshitigarbha statue is depicted seated in the padmāsana (lotus posture) on a lotus base, symbolizing purity and spiritual awakening. He wears a five-pointed crown representing the Five Dhyani Buddhas, signifying his enlightened qualities. In his right hand, he holds a staff (khakkhara), symbolizing spiritual authority and the guiding of beings on the path. His left hand holds wish-fulfilling jewels (cintāmaṇi), representing the fulfillment of all spiritual and worldly desires. This iconography reflects Kshitigarbha’s boundless wisdom and compassionate ability to grant blessings and support practitioners in their journey toward enlightenment.
Kshitigarbha Bodhisattva is revered in Mahayana Buddhism as the compassionate guardian of the deceased and protector of beings in the hell realms. Known for his vow to delay Buddhahood until all suffering beings are freed, he embodies unwavering determination and boundless compassion. Kshitigarbha’s role as a savior of lost souls and guide through difficult realms makes him an influential figure for those seeking comfort, protection, and spiritual support in times of hardship.
Introduction To Kshitigarbha:
A bodhisattva in Mahayana Buddhism, Kshitigarbha is sometimes called Ksitigarbha or Jizo in Japanese. He is respected as the world's defender and protector and is known as the bodhisattva of the earth. How do you take care of your statues?
• Place them at room temperature, avoiding direct sunlight.
• Make sure that the area where your statue is placed is entirely free of moisture and dust.
• Place it at the highest place on your altar after being consecrated by a Lama/monks. The best practice is to keep them covered inside a glass cabinet.
• Do not use your bare hands or any objects with a rough surface to wipe the face. Directly touching objects with the bare hand can smudge the face, leaving scratches.
