Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara) is often shown with four hands, each telling a story of compassion and awakening. His upper right hand clasps a rosary (mālā), a symbol of endless prayer and kindness, while the upper left holds a blooming blue lotus (utpala), signifying purity and spiritual growth. The two middle hands come together in añjali mudrā, gently holding a cintāmaṇi—a wish-fulfilling jewel—reflecting his infinite compassion and desire to aid all beings. • Directly touching objects with the bare hand can smudge the face, leaving scratches.
