Amitabha Buddha is traditionally depicted seated gracefully in the vajrasana, or diamond posture, upon a moon disc lotus base, which symbolizes purity and spiritual elevation. His hands rest gently in the dhyāna mudrā, the meditative gesture that signifies deep concentration and inner peace. In this pose, he holds an alms bowl, representing compassion, generosity, and the selfless giving that nourishes all beings. The ushnisha, a rounded protuberance atop his head, symbolizes his enlightened wisdom and spiritual attainment. His calm and serene facial expression radiates profound tranquility and infinite compassion, inviting practitioners to cultivate these qualities within themselves on the path to liberation and awakening. This iconic imagery serves as a powerful reminder of Amitabha’s role as the Buddha of Infinite Light and his vow to lead all sentient beings to blissful enlightenment.

Introduction to Amitabha Buddha:

Amitabha Buddha, the Ruler of the Pure Land, was once a monk named Dharmakara who made 48 great vows to create a realm of ultimate peace and enlightenment—Sukhavati, the Western Pure Land. Among these vows, his most famous promised that anyone who sincerely calls upon his name with faith will be reborn in this blissful realm, free from suffering and spiritual obstacles. In his Pure Land, beings can effortlessly progress toward enlightenment under his compassionate guidance. Amitabha embodies infinite light and life, offering a path of salvation rooted in devotion, hope, and boundless compassion.

How do you take care of your statues?

• Place them at room temperature, avoiding direct sunlight.
• Make sure that the area where your statue is placed is entirely free of moisture and dust.
• Place it at the highest place on your altar after being consecrated by the Lama/monks. The best practice is to keep them covered inside a glass cabinet.
• Do not use your bare hands or any objects with a rough surface to wipe the face.
• Directly touching objects with the bare hand can smudge the face, leaving scratches.
