Vaisravana Tibetan Thangka
Introduction To The Thangka :
Namtose or Vaisravana is the King of all the wealth Yakshas. He is also known as Vaishravana a worldly guardian worshipped as both a protector and benefactor. He lives on the north side of the lower slopes of Mount Meru in the Heaven of the Four Great Kings. As the leader of the Four Direction Guardians, he like the others swore an oath of protection before the buddha Shakyamuni to support and protect all who follow the path the Buddha Taught.
How to take care of your thangka?
-Hang your thangka in a traditional silk brocade
-Regular Inspection of your thangka; examine the borders and all attachments.
-Keep thangkas covered when they are on display but not in use.
-Rotate thangkas between display and storage on a regular basis, two to four times a year, to reduce the amount of exposure to light. Keep away from sunlight and humidity.
-Do not apply liquids or other materials to the surface of the thangka.
