Namtose Thangka
Introduction To The Thangka :
The Lord of Money, also known as Namtoshe or Vaishravana, is the Buddhist equivalent of Kubera, the Brahmanical deity of wealth, and he also rules over the realm of riches. Vaishravana guards the Northern area and Mount Sumeru, the center of the cosmos, in his capacity as a Lokapala or Guardian King. He resides in the magnificent and wealthy Alaka in the Himalayas, where yakshas and kinnaras look after him. In addition, Vaishravana rules over the yakshas.
He mostly manifests as a warrior guardian and a god of riches. He is represented as the god of riches in this passage. He is known as Jambhala in southern Buddhism, especially in the Indian subcontinent, since he also bears a Jambhara (lemon) in one of his hands.
