Beautifully Hand-Painted Shakyamuni Buddha
About our thangka
Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as Siddhartha Gautama, is the founder of Buddhism and a central figure in Buddhist teachings. Born into a luxurious life in ancient India, he renounced his princely status to seek spiritual truth and liberation from suffering. After years of seeking, he attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, India. His teachings, encapsulated in the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path, emphasize compassion, wisdom, ethical conduct, and mindfulness as the paths to liberation. His message of compassion, non-violence, and inner transformation continues to inspire millions worldwide.
The Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka is a traditional Tibetan Buddhist artwork showing Siddhartha Gautama's enlightened form. The painting shows Shakyamuni Buddha sitting on a lotus seat, exuding spiritual wisdom and compassion. His right-hand touches the ground, signifying enlightenment, while his left-hand rests in the dhyana mudra, which represents intense concentration. This Shakyamuni Thangka encourages practitioners to meditate and devote themselves. As a focal point for meditation and prayer, the thangka encourages devotees to make efforts for enlightenment by embodying the everlasting teachings of compassion, wisdom, and preventing suffering.
