Tibetan Kapala Skull Cup with Gold-plating
About The Ritual Item :
Our hand-carved kapala can be separated into three parts, i.e. the top bottom, and bowl. The top lid is beautifully carved and holds a vajra. Similarly, the middle is a gold-plated bowl that can easily be separated from the bottom. Likewise, the bottom is decorated beautifully to hold the overall set.
This exquisite kapala bowl and stand represent the luxurious nature of Buddhist implements created for one of the many Buddhist temples.
Introduction To The Kapala Skull Cup :
In Tibetan Buddhism, the Kapala or Skull Bowl is used ritually in several ways. For example, Lamas can use it as a bowl of altar offerings and fill it with wine or blood as a gift to all the gods of the guardian deity or mandala or for performing higher esoteric rituals. The skull cup, known as Kapala, is fashioned from the oval upper section of a human cranium that serves as a libation vessel for many Vajrayana deities, primarily wrathful. Kapala holds the nectar used for performing higher esoteric rituals during tantric meditation to achieve a transcendental state of thought.
