About Our Statue :
This handmade Medicine Buddha Statue is a fine example of Nepalese artistry, carefully crafted by skilled artisans. Measuring 17 cm in height and 12 cm at the base, and weighing 0.60 kg, it is made from a copper body that has been silver-plated and further enhanced with gold and acrylic paintings. The traditional workmanship is evident in the delicate detailing and graceful finish, making it a meaningful piece for any setting—whether in the home, a meditation space, a temple, or a personal collection. In Buddhist tradition, the Medicine Buddha is revered as a symbol of healing and compassion, bringing relief from both physical and mental suffering while guiding practitioners toward wisdom and peace.
Medicine Buddha, the Supreme Healer, is depicted in padmāsana (lotus posture), radiating a serene presence. His right hand holds a myrobalan plant, symbolizing the healing of both physical and spiritual ailments. In his left hand rests an alms bowl filled with nectar, representing the medicine of immortality and ultimate liberation from suffering. His crowned ushnisha embodies supreme wisdom, while the lotus base signifies purity and enlightenment arising unstained from the world. Together, these attributes highlight Medicine Buddha’s role as the divine healer and compassionate protector of all beings.
Medicine Buddha, also known as Bhaishajyaguru in Sanskrit, is regarded as the Buddha of Healing. His teachings aim to liberate sentient beings from sickness, pain, anguish, and unhappiness, while also emphasizing the importance of achieving prosperity and enjoyment in this life. Many meditators in the Mahayana tradition admire his healing abilities. He is frequently shown with a blue (lapis lazuli) body and hands carrying a begging bowl and medical herbs.
Introduction to Shayamuni Buddha:
Shakyamuni Buddha, once Prince Siddhartha of the Shakya clan, left behind his royal comforts to seek a more profound truth beyond the joys and sorrows of the world. Through intense meditation and ascetic practice beneath the Bodhi tree, he attained enlightenment and became the Buddha—the Awakened One. Devoted to sharing the path to liberation, he taught the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path. Shakyamuni symbolizes the potential for awakening in everyone, embodying wisdom that conquers ignorance and fosters serene detachment. His enduring presence invites us to cultivate compassion and mindfulness, and to embark on a transformative journey within ourselves.
How do you take care of your statues?
• Place them at room temperature, avoiding direct sunlight.
• Make sure that the area where your statue is placed is entirely free of moisture and dust.
• Place it at the highest place on your altar after being consecrated by a Lama/monks. The best practice is to keep them covered inside a glass cabinet.
• Do not use your bare hands or any objects with a rough surface to wipe the face. Directly touching objects with the bare hand can smudge the face, leaving scratches.
