About our bell:

This gold-plated ritual bell (Vajra Ghanta) is a sacred instrument in Tibetan Buddhist ceremonies, representing the voice of knowledge and the clarity of Dharma. The resonating sound of the bell, which is used in rituals, offerings, and meditation activities, is said to expel negativity, invite blessings, and purify the surroundings. It, like the vajra, depicts the inseparable combination of wisdom and compassion, which is the essence of enlightenment.

This ceremonial bell, expertly constructed from a copper body with beautiful gold plating, stands 24.5cm tall and 24cm wide and weighs 0.66kg. The piece is further decorated with imitation turquoise and coral stones, which add to its beauty and spiritual importance. Its intricate design, particularly the twin dorje at the top, reflects traditional Himalayan creativity, making it both a useful ritual instrument and a visually appealing altar display.

In Tibetan tradition, the ritual bell is a vital tool for practitioners, utilized at pujas, initiations, and meditative chanting. Beyond ritual function, it is a profound decorative artifact that emits sacred energy into the environment. This handcrafted gold plated bell, whether put on a Buddhist altar, utilized in personal meditation practice, or given as a spiritual keepsake, represents harmony, blessings, and spiritual awakening.

Introduction to Bell

Bell is regarded as one of Buddhism's powerful meditational and ritual symbols. During rituals or Vajrayana Tantric practices, Ghanta is used in conjunction with others. The Dorje is held in the right hand, and the bell is in the left and is never isolated from the Dorje. The bell represents the feminine principle as the pertheton of wisdom, which directly perceives emptiness (shunyata). It is defined as "proclaiming the sound of nothingness", which originates from the voidness of its shape, radiates in all directions, and then dissipates back into silence or emptiness. Its hole, or mouth, represents nothingness, while its clapper, or tongue, represents the shape.
