Handcrafted Buddhist Complete Kapala Set for Ritual Practice
About Our Ritual Item :
This Handcrafted Buddhist Complete Kapala Set is expertly created from a copper body plated with gold and embellished with coral and lapis lazuli inlays, making it both a work of art and a sacred devotional object. This set, measuring 25.5 cm in height and 14.5 cm in width and weighing 3.10 kg, displays dedication to spiritual importance. In Tibetan Buddhism, the kapala, or skull cup, is a cherished ritual vase used in deity offerings to represent the change of ignorance into insight. The presence of coral and lapis lazuli, stones thought to convey protecting and healing energies, boosts the set's spiritual potency, encouraging clarity and enlightment.
The Handcrafted Kapala Set is richly adorned with symbolic elements, beginning with the wrathful god face, on the front. This powerful look, complete with bulging eyes, fangs, and a third eye, protects against negativity and represents spiritual understanding. Above, a crown of crimson flames indicates the transformative power of wisdom, while exquisite gold motifs and inlaid turquoise and coral indicate compassion and life. The rim and body have braided designs and lotus motifs to represent purity and progress. The kapala, supported by three skull-shaped legs that represent life's impermanence, stands atop an intricate foundation platform adorned with protecting and fortunate symbols, cementing its ritual significance.
Introduction To The Kapala Set :
The skull cup, known as Kapala in Sanskrit, is fashioned from the oval upper section of a human cranium. It serves as a libation vessel for a vast number of Vajrayana deities, mostly wrathful. As a ritual implement, the selection of the right skull is of immense importance for the success of the ritual. In Tibetan Buddhism, the Kapala or Skull Bowl is used ritually in several ways. For example, the Lama may use it as an offering bowl on the altar, filled with wine or blood as a gift to the Yidam Deity or all the Deities in the Mandala. Through the force of the practice of tantric visualizations based in the deep philosophical study and meditation, a sort of transubstantiation will occur, and the wine or blood will be transformed into the Wisdom Nectar, a liquid form of the Enlightened Mind of the Deity or all of the Deities in the Celestial Palace of the Mandala.
