Buddhist Stupa
About The Ritual Item :
This BBuddhist Stupa is crafted in Kadam Style. The stupa is a handmade Buddhist shrine finely detailed. The most unique is the round bell-shaped bottom with the double lotus base. The stupa is decorated with a parasol and thirteen descending discs below. The center is adorned by a circular balcony-like structure with a round bell-shaped bottom below, with all of that placed atop a round lotus base. The top has perfectly designed thirteen umbrella wheels and other carvings similarly.
Introduction To Stupa :
Before Buddhism, great teachers were buried in mounds. Some were cremated but sometimes buried in a seated, meditative position. The mound of earth covered them up. Thus, the domed shape of the stupa came to represent a person seated in meditation, much as the Buddha was when he achieved Enlightenment and knowledge of the Four Noble Truths. The stupa's base represents his crossed legs as he sits meditatively. The middle portion is the Buddha’s body and the top of the mound, where a pole rises from the apex surrounded by a small fence, represents his head. Before images of the human Buddha were created, reliefs often depicted practitioners demonstrating devotion to a stupa.
