The stupa is a dome-shaped building beautifully handcrafted which is a gold-plated Buddhist shrine. A Stupa is a dome-shaped building erected as a Buddhist shrine. In the Tibetan language, Stupas are called 'Chorten'.
Introduction To Buddha Stupa :
Small stupas can function as votive offerings. In order to gain merit, and to improve one’s karma, individuals could sponsor the casting of a votive stupa. Stupas typically have inscriptions that state that the stupa was made “so that all beings may attain Enlightenment.” Votive stupas can be consecrated and used in home altars or utilized in monastic shrines.
The stupa represents the Buddhist Universe, sometimes square and sometimes round, with spires or steps on the capital. A Stupa is a tower or steeple erected atop Hindu and Tibetan Buddhist temples. The Stupa is a symbol for the elementary organization of the universe according to Hindu cosmology. Each spire or step represents a heaven, the uppermost portion being a point which is supposed to be the highest peak of Mount Sumeru. It is composed of four parts, symbolizing the five elements: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. On the four sides of the Stupa the figures of four Dhyani Buddhas accordingly.
