About Our Statue:
This Handcarved Fasting Buddha Shakyamuni Statue depicts Siddhartha Gautama's profound spiritual journey during his period of rigorous ascetic practice. This statue, crafted from wood and accented with subtle acrylic color, measures 31.5cm in height, 18cm in width, and weighs 1.14kg. It depicts the Buddha in emaciated form, representing renunciation, spiritual endurance, and the pursuit of enlightenment through meditation and self-discipline.
Every detail has been meticulously carved, from the exposed ribs and sunken cheeks to the serene expression that reflects inner calm. Symbolic carvings on the base reflect this transformative period in Buddhist history. This wooden sculpture is more than just a decorative item; it is a powerful symbol of spiritual awakening and makes an excellent centerpiece for any meditation space, altar, or spiritual collection.
Introduction To Fasting Shakyamuni Buddha:
Shakyamuni traveled south from Shakya's palace in Kapilavastu to Rajagriha, the capital of the kingdom of Magadha, where he studied with Alara Kalama and subsequently Uddaka Ramaputta, both yogic meditation instructors. Despite quickly mastering various types of meditation, he was unable to find solutions to his questions within these disciplines.
How do you take care of your statues?
• Place them at room temperature, avoiding direct sunlight.
• Make sure that the area where your statue is placed is entirely free of moisture and dust.
• Place it at the highest place on your altar after being consecrated by a Lama/monks. The best practice is to keep them covered inside a
glass cabinet.
• Do not use your bare hands or any objects with a rough surface to wipe the face. Directly touching the face with the bare hand can smudge the face, leaving scratches.
