Skilled artists in the Kathmandu Valley create this sacred artwork on handmade cotton canvas using traditional painting techniques. Artists carefully prepare the handmade cotton canvas before developing the elaborate composition through detailed outlines, layered acrylic colors, and delicate brushwork. This remarkable painting offers a meaningful addition to Buddhist meditation spaces, spiritual collections, and interiors celebrating Himalayan cultural traditions.

The Buddhist calendar, particularly within Tibetan Buddhist traditions, represents a sophisticated system connecting lunar cycles, celestial movements, elemental relationships, and spiritual observances. Tibetan calendrical knowledge developed through a combination of Indian astronomical traditions, Chinese elemental astrology, and indigenous Tibetan practices. The system incorporates the twelve animal signs, five elements, lunar phases, and astrological calculations to interpret the relationship between time and human activities. Traditional Tibetan astrological paintings frequently feature the Sipaho, a symbolic diagram associated with elemental astrology, protective symbolism, and auspicious relationships. The tortoise represents a cosmological foundation for arranging astrological elements, while surrounding symbols illustrate the interconnected nature of existence. Buddhist communities consult traditional calendars to determine significant religious observances, auspicious occasions, and ritual dates. Beyond their calendrical purpose, these sacred diagrams reflect the cultural importance of harmony, interdependence, and mindful awareness within Himalayan traditions.

DRAWN AS MENTIONED IN THE MEDITATION MANUAL
-------------------------------------------------------------
Size: 22"/56 cm (width) x 30"/76 cm (height)
Materials: Cotton Canvas, Gold Colors, Acrylic Colors
-------------------------------------------------------------

THIS THANGKA IS HAND-PAINTED IN THE TRADITIONAL STYLE BY A NEPALI ARTIST, AND THE QUALITY IS HIGH

CONSECRATION OF THANGKA

As per your request for consecrations/blessings, we can take the thangka to nearby monasteries or Rinpoches from the Boudha Stupa.
